Do you wish you had vision freedom?

Laser vision correction could be the answer to all your dreams!

What is laser vision correction?

Laser vision correction is eye laser surgery that alters the focusing power of the eye by changing the shape of the cornea. It offers you:

  • Vision freedom and lifestyle convenience
  • Appearance confidence and flexibility
  • Glasses and contact lens free lifestyle

Imagine swimming, entertaining, driving, playing with the kids…or even simply walking in the rain, without the hindrance of glasses!

What treatment options are available?

Factors such as your glasses prescription, your age and visual needs and the configuration of your eye influence your surgical options. But with the advancements in Laser vision correction technology over the last two decades more and more people are suitable. Now less invasive than ever before, three different mainstream options are available and include SMILE®, LASIK, PRK.

If you are considering this investment in your eye health and lifestyle, let us tell you a little more about each one.

SMILE®

SMILE® is a minimally invasive procedure and a gentle treatment option in eye laser surgery. Suitable candidates find it as a procedure of high choice due to its excellent safety profile and fast visual recovery.

In SMILE® a small piece of tissue (called a lenticule) is created inside the cornea with the laser and removed through a small incision. This means many of the layers of the cornea are unaffected and in addition there are no flap related complications.

With fast visual recovery patients can normally return to work, shower, or apply makeup shortly after surgery, whilst driving and sports activities are possible within 24-48 hours.

Why choose SMILE®?

  • Minimally invasive and gentle with only a small incision
  • No flap and no flap related complications
  • Visual recovery is fast
  • Reduced risk and incidence of dry eye
  • Supports a comfortable, painless and stress-free patient experience
  • Odourless and noiseless

LASIK

LASIK is the world’s most commonly performed surgery for correcting vision. With its wide treatment range and visual recovery speed, LASIK is backed by proven technology and results.

With LASIK, a thin flap of corneal tissue is created in the outer layer of the cornea. This is folded back to expose the underlying corneal tissue, which is reshaped with an Excimer laser to correct the refractive error.

Why choose LASIK?

  • Poses little or no post-operative pain or discomfort
  • Generally, a quick visual recovery
  • Most frequently performed procedure
  • Treatment standard for more than 20 years
  • Covers a wide prescription range
  • Optimal outcomes for visual correction

PRK

PRK (Photorefractive Keratectomy)- surface laser ablation was the first type of laser eye surgery for vision correction.

With PRK the recovery time is longer than that of LASIK or SMILE® , however it is still widely performed and offers a number of advantages over some other treatment options for some patients.

Why choose PRK?

  • PRK is safe, efficient and predictable
  • Gently removes corneal tissue without creating a flap of corneal tissue
  • PRK uses a state-of-the art laser beam to alter the top layer of corneal cells
  • Suitable for thinner and irregular shaped cornea
  • May be possible for patients with mild dry eye symptoms
  • Visual outcome of PRK is excellent

Can I really throw away my glasses?

For shortsighted people the answer is yes. Laser Vision Correction is the perfect solution for those people that need glasses to see in the distance.

Laser vision correction cannot delay the ageing process however and so it is likely that glasses may still be required for near tasks like reading of computer work. As we age the natural lens in our eye ages and becomes less flexible – this is called Presbyopia.

There are less mainstream options for treating this successful called blended vision. Read more about this, and other types of refractive surgery here.
